Last Chance To Comment On Major Hospital Transformation Plan

There is just a week left for people across Harborough to have their say on plans to transform Leicester’s Hospital services.

£450 million of government cash is to be spent improving and altering the city’s three hospitals, with a three-month public consultation period ending on December 21st.

The proposal includes:

• Moving all acute care to the Leicester Royal Infirmary and to Glenfield Hospital.
• Creating a community health campus at Leicester General Hospital.
• The first dedicated single-site children’s hospital in the East Midlands based in Kensington Building, Leicester Royal Infirmary.
• A new maternity hospital at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
• Two ‘super’ intensive care units with 100 beds in total, almost double the current number.
• A major planned care treatment centre at Glenfield Hospital.
• Modernised wards, operating theatres and imaging facilities.
• Additional car parking.
