Multiple Bursts Causes Major Water Outage

Written by on 26th October 2026

Water supply problems are again affecting villages near Market Harborough, with residents in some areas experiencing no water or very low pressure.

Anglian Water says several burst mains in the Sibbertoft area have caused levels at a local reservoir to drop significantly.

What caused the bursts has not been revealed.

East Farndon, Clipston, Kelmarsh and Great Oxendon are among the areas affected, with water company teams working to repair the bursts and restore supplies.

Large tankers are being used to inject water directly into the network, while engineers are also looking at ways to bring water into the network from elsewhere. This could mean reduced pressure in areas which are currently unaffected.

Anglian Water says bottled water will be delivered to all affected customers, with deliveries starting in East Farndon, which is particularly vulnerable because of its higher elevation. The company says it cannot give specific delivery times.

Areas affected by the supply problems

A spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry that some customers in East Farndon, Clipston and the surrounding areas may be experiencing low water pressure or no water at all this morning. This is because of several burst water mains in the Sibbertoft area, which have caused water levels at our local reservoir to fall significantly.

“We know this is particularly frustrating given the issues in the area earlier this month. Our teams are working hard to fix things as quickly as they can. We’re using tankers to inject more water into the network, and we’ll also be delivering bottled water to all affected customers later today.

“Thanks to all our customers in East Farndon, Clipston and the surrounding areas for bearing with us while we get things back to normal.”

Residents who still have water are being asked to use only what they need for essential purposes while repairs are carried out, to help preserve supplies.

Anglian Water says a specialist team is also monitoring pressure levels across the network to reduce the risk of further bursts.

The company says it is reviewing how the network has been operating recently and what further action may be needed to reduce the risk of similar problems in the future.

The latest disruption follows three days of water supply problems earlier this month, when a pump failure led to several bursts elsewhere in the area.
