Sax Orchestra Release Christmas Charity Song

Harborough’s Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra has released its first Christmas charity song.

Members have created a version of the medieval carol ‘Gaudete’, made famous in the 70s by folk rock band Steeleye Span.

The song was arranged by the orchestra’s musical director Tony Rifugiato, who also plays percussion on the track, and the group is encouraging people to download it while making a donation to Market Harborough-based charity VASL.

The musicians can’t play together in person at the moment, due to Covid-19 restrictions, so each recorded their own performances, before they were mixed together.
