The go-ahead has been given for a new business park on the outskirts of Kibworth Harcourt.

Ten commercial and industrial buildings will go up on land next to the Priory Business Park, off Wistow Road after Harborough District Council approved the scheme last night.

If will create a total of 95,688 sq ft of employment space and will include 180 parking spaces and 23 cycle parking spaces.

As part of the development, the 30mph speed limit will be extended, resulting in the site access being located within the 30mph zone and the developer will make contributions for local highways improvements.

Plans for a new housing estate in Medbourne were approved last night, despite concerns from villagers it could increase the risk of flooding and cause drainage problems.

15 homes will go up off Hallaton Road with a mix of two to four bedrooms

Harborough District Council’s planning committee agreed that the application was consistent with the Medbourne Neighbourhood Plan, with evidence that it would not increase flooding and that there would be sustainable drainage.

Proposals for a temporary outdoor covered seating area at the Red Lion pub in Great Bowden have been deferred.

Further highways information, which was submitted by the applicant, will now be considered before the application is brought back to committee.

A solar farm will be created in Rugby Road, Cotesbach, after approval by planning committee.

It will generate green energy equivalent to nearly 7,000 homes and save approximately 6,810 tonnes in CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions every year – the equivalent of removing more than 1,500 standard cars from the road each year. The committee agreed to proposals met with the Councils planning policies on climate change.

Plans for a further four caravan pitches at a Gypsy and Traveller site in Mere Road, Bitteswell, for the applicant’s extended family, have been deferred.

The decision was deferred to a later committee in order to obtain further advice including from police and Leicestershire Multi Agency Travellers Unit.
