Covid-19 Compliance Checks On 75 Retail Businesses

Council officials have made unannounced visits to 75 retail businesses across Harborough to ensure they are complying with Covid-19 rules.
The spot checks have been carried in the last week at supermarkets, convenience stores, garden centres, newsagents and chemists.
Harborough District Council officers say they found high levels of compliance across all areas and no formal action needed to be taken, although they did offer advice and support to some businesses.
The checks of essential businesses, which can remain open during the lockdown, are continuing.
A Council spokesman told Hfm: “Officers were checking that Covid secure measures were in place and was encouraging to find that levels of compliance were high across all areas, and no formal action has been taken.
“Customers are asked to play their part and follow the rules put in place by businesses to protect staff and customers, such as wearing a face covering unless exempt and maintaining social distancing.
“Officers are continuing to carry out spot checks in the coming weeks.”
