A prolific shoplifter has been jailed for ten week after stealing from Market Harborough supermarkets.

Lesley Fuggle, 40, was arrested last week outside Lidl, after attempting to walk out with a bag full of shopping – just days earlier she stole alcohol from Co-Op on Coventry Road.

Leicester Magistrates heard Fuggle, of Petworth Drive in Market Harborough, was out on licence after serving another jail term for theft offences.

In sentencing her, District judge Nick Watson said: “I accept these were unsophisticated offences of relatively low value but you have an appalling record of offences of this type and you committed these offences after you were released from prison on licence.”

She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and £85 costs.
