Pick-Up Crashes Into Pub & Then Set On Fire

Police are hunting three people after a pick-up truck crashed into a pub in Rothwell last night and was then set on fire.

The Nissan Navara collided with the side of the Rowell Charter Inn just after 9pm, causing extensive damage to brickwork and some damage inside.

It was then driven towards the War Memorial in Squires Hill, where it was deliberately set alight and the three occupants ran off towards the town centre.

Firefighters were called to deal with blaze.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: “Between 9pm and 9.30pm, a black Nissan Navara was in collision with the Charter Inn public house, causing extensive damage to the external brickwork and damage to an internal boiler. The driver and passengers got out of the vehicle.

“However the driver has then got back in the vehicle and driven off towards the War Memorial in Squires Hill, followed by two of the passengers on foot. The vehicle has then been deliberately set on fire and the driver and passengers have ran off towards the town centre.”

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the road collision or the suspect arson.
