Warning Over Fake NHS Emails Targeting People Awaiting Jabs

A warning is being issued about fake emails targeting people waiting for the Coronavirus vaccine.

It appears to look genuine, using the NHS logo, and if people click on the link, they are taken to a bogus website which asks for bank details to pay for the jab.

Leicestershire Police say the email is a scam are is reminding people vaccinations are free and to never provide bank details via any such website.

Officers are urging anyone who receive one to forwarding it to report@phishing.gov.uk

Earlier this month a warning was issued about fake text message purporting to be from the NHS about booking vaccines.

A spokesperson for the NHS said: “We are aware that some people are receiving suspicious calls and text messages offering the COVID-19 vaccination

“Coronavirus vaccines are only available on the NHS and you can be contacted by the NHS, your employer, or a GP surgery local to you, to receive your vaccine.

“Remember, the vaccine is free of charge. At no point will you be asked to pay.”
