Runners Take On London Marathon In Memory Of Loved Ones & For Charity

People from across the HFM region are preparing to take part in Sunday’s London Marathon, many raising money for causes with deep personal meaning.
Among them is Market Harborough’s Ben Jelley, who is running the 26.2-mile course with family friend Emily Mayhew in memory of his wife Charlotte, who died aged 32 from a pregnancy-related blood clot shortly after the loss of their premature son Arthur in 2024.

They have raised nearly £10,000 for Tommy’s, which funds research into baby loss and pregnancy complications.
Ben will be cheered on in London by family members, including the couple’s three-year-old daughter Elsa Joy, who is making the trip to support her dad:

Also taking on the marathon is Mark Cavers, well known to many in Market Harborough through his fruit and veg stall in the town market.
Mark is running for the Bodie Hodges Foundation, which supports parents bereaved of a child, and has already raised more than £3,000 in sponsorship.

He told HFM he has been overwhelmed by support from customers.

And joining them on the start line is on-call firefighter Rob Seaton from Market Harborough Fire Station, who is running to raise money for Asthma + Lung UK.
