Plans For New Homes in Houghton Rejected Over Countryside Concerns

Plans to build up to 24 affordable homes in Houghton on the Hill have been rejected.
Harborough District Council’s planning committee went against the recommendation of officers and unanimously refused permission for the development on land north of Stretton Lane.
Councillors raised concerns over conflict with the neighbourhood plan and the impact on the countryside location.
The scheme attracted 43 objections and one comment in support.
Previous plans for a larger development on the site were dismissed at appeal in 2016 over harm to the character of the area and loss of openness.
