Reassurance On Public Safety IF Pitchfork Is Released

The government says it’ll do all it can to make sure people in Leicestershire are protected if convicted killer Colin Pitchfork is released this year.
He was jailed in 1988 for the rape and murder of teenagers Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth in Narborough and his case is due to go the parole board again shortly.
South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa has also been told that the parole case files were ‘unlikely to be included’ in the 400,000 police records accidentally deleted last week.
He questioned Policing Minister Kit Malthouse in the House of Commons:
