Parking Charges To Be Reinstated From Next Week

Written by on 7th July 2020

Parking charges will be reinstated in Market Harborough from Monday.

Drivers will be urged to use non-cash payments and pay for parking via an app or by phone, to minimise contact with pay and display machines, and will not have to input their registration number when getting a ticket.

The time period for free ‘Pop and Shop’ bays is being extended from 30 minutes to an hour, with additional such spaces introduced at the Kings Head Place car park.

Social distancing markings have also been introduced by all pay and display machines.

Charges have been suspended since the end of March because of the coronavirus pandemic and Harborough Council says it’s delayed bringing them back for as long as possible, whilst being mindful of the significant loss of income.

New ‘pop and shop’ bays are also being introduced in George Street, Lutterworth to coincide with parking charges being reintroduced in Harborough Council car parks there.
