‘Operation Market Harborough’ Returns This Weekend

Historic military vehicles, living history displays and battle re-enactments will take over the Market Harborough Showground this weekend for Operation Market Harborough (OMH).

Now in its fourth year, organisers say the two-day event is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe and is expected to attract around 10,000 visitors.

Visitors will be able to meet vehicle owners and hear the stories behind the machines, as well as enjoy re-enactors, hands-on exhibits, family activities, food and refreshments, battle re-enactments and living history camps.

The event will also raise money to support a number of charities, with people coming from as far away as Canada to be part of the event.

The Military Vehicle Trust will play a major part in the event, with around 40 members from its Charnwood area bringing approximately 20 military vehicles.

The display will include jeeps, GMC and Dodge vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and a range of rarer wartime and post-war vehicles.

Andrew Palmer, Military Vehicle Trust North East Midlands Area Secretary, said: “Operation Market Harborough is a fantastic opportunity for the public to see these historic vehicles up close and to meet the people who preserve and operate them.”
