New Strategy Aims To Boost Sport Facilities

A new strategy aimed at improving community and sports facilities has been approved by Harborough District Council.

It is hoped it will help provide more opportunities for people to enjoy sports and leisure in good facilities, as demand and population grows.

The document will also be used to help unlock funding for clubs and community groups.

David Atkinson, Head of Planning and Regeneration, told a meeting of the Full Council, it will also be used to secure money from housing developers:

The main facilities considered as part of the ten-year strategy, which is supported by Sport England, National Governing Bodies and others. are sports halls, swimming pools, health and fitness, athletics, squash, dedicated gymnastics centres, indoor bowls, indoor tennis, netball, and table tennis.
