Fire Crews Tackle Grain Dryer Blaze

Firefighters tackled a blaze involving a grain dryer at a farm in Fleckney last night.

Crews from Market Harborough, Kibworth and Wigston attended the incident off Kilby Road, along with a specialist technical rescue team from Leicester, after a 999 call was made just before 7pm.

Holes had to be cut in the side of the large silo to enable firefighters to remove a large amount of grain that was on fire inside.

Theywere on the scene for four hours and are returning today to carry out an inspection.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service say the cause of the blaze is believed to have been ‘accidental.’
