New crossing planned to improve safety on Northampton Road

Safety could soon be improved for pedestrians and cyclists on one of Market Harborough’s busiest roads.
Leicestershire County Council is planning to install a new light-controlled Toucan crossing on Northampton Road (A508).

The crossing is proposed around 80 metres north of the roundabout
The crossing is proposed around 80 metres north of the roundabout at the edge of the town, providing a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists to and from the leisure centre, health and sports facilities and the Compass Point business park.
The county council has now issued the necessary traffic orders for the scheme, although it has not yet confirmed when construction will begin.
