Market Harborough’s Waitrose store has been sold for £9.1m.
The supermarket giant, which opened on Springfield Street in 2012, says the sale of the site to a real estate investment trust, says there will be no change from a customer point of view.
A spokesman told Hfm: “We can confirm our landlord has sold their freehold interest, however this has no impact on Waitrose and we continue to operate our business normally under our existing lease.”
The two-acre site, comprising of the store and a 180-space car park, has been bought by supermarket Income REIT from Alpha Real Estate,
Ben Green, Director of Atrato Capital, the Investment Adviser to Supermarket Income REIT, said: “We are pleased to have added a further Waitrose store to our growing portfolio. This store has strong omnichannel trading fundamentals and is situated in a prominent location within a highly affluent town.”
The site is being acquired with an unexpired lease term of 19 years (with a break option at year 14).
