A Royal Navy veteran from Market Harborough is heading to France today where she will walk over 60 miles to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund Soldiers’ Charity.

Jane Timms, who served for 26 years, is joining others on the four-day ‘Front-Line Walk,’ which will begin where the Battle Of The Somme started during WW1 and end at the Menin Gate in Belgium.

The route will take in a number of significant sites and memorials.

Jane, who is involved in the Market Harborough Poppy Appeal and the RAF Association, was due to take part in the fundraiser last year, but told Hfm she suffered a stroke just before she was due to go:

Jane has already raised over £1,000 in sponsorship – click HERE to support her.
