Blue Light Services Team Up For Xmas Safety Campaign

The Police and Fire Service in Market Harborough have teamed up to try and ensure people stay safe on the roads and at home during the festive period.

Planned public awareness events had to be cancelled because of Covid-19 restrictions, so the blue light services are using Hfm to pass on important messages.

Darren Weston, Harborough District Manager for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, is urging people to take care if using candles in their homes:

The dangers of drinking and driving are also being highlighted, as a Police campaign targeting people driving under the influence of drink and drugs continues.

Both services work together at the scene of road traffic collisions and Darren told Hfm on occasions that involves a driver who has been drinking:

The importance of keeping vehicles in a roadworthy condition is another part of the campaign, with people urged to check the condition of tyres and lights, amongst other things.

Sergeant Pete Jelbert told Hfm they are also stopping more vehicles as part of the drink/drug drive campaign
