Armed Police Stand-Offs Were ‘Training Exercise’

Armed-police stand-offs in Market Harborough and near Rothwell were just training exercises.

Shocked passers-by watched as police marksmen, some in plain clothes, pointed guns at occupants of a car, before ordering them out holding their hands in the air.

Unmarked Police cars surrounded vehicles on Albert Road in Market Harborough and on the A6 at the A14 junction, near Rothwell, yesterday.

Northamptonshire Police say there is no need for people to be alarmed, as armed officers have to train in ‘real’ conditions.
