A6 Bypass To Shut Overnight For Six Weeks

Written by on 18th January 2021

Major resurfacing works begin this evening on the A6 bypass between Market Harborough and Desborough, meaning it will be closed overnight on weekdays for the next six weeks.

There will also be a 30mph temporary speed limit and daytime lane closures on the southbound carriageway for the duration of the works, set to be completed on February 26th.

The work, which will also include drainage improvements, footway repairs, kerb replacement and vegetation clearance, is being paid for with £5m of government funding, awarded to Leicestershire County Council for three bypass improvement schemes.

There will be a 20-mile recommended diversion while the road is closed between 8pm and 6am, which will take drivers who need to complete essential journeys via Corby and Kettering.
