Passengers Unhappy At ‘Unreliable’ Bus Service

Passengers say Market Harborough’s town bus service is becoming increasing unreliable.

Users of the number 33 services say they are often cancelled at short notice, leaving them waiting at bus stops for long periods of time.

A number of services have been cancelled in recent weeks due to driver shortages caused by sickness.

Operator Stagecoach has apologised and Leicestershire County Council – which subsidises the routes – has pledged to work with the firm to make improvements.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach told HFM: “We are sorry for the issues that some passengers have experienced on route 33.

“The vast majority of our services run across the region, with only a small number of journeys cancelled.

“This can be for a range of reasons, some of which are within our control and others not, such as traffic congestion and roadworks.

“We will continue to work to make improvements where needed, giving customers comfort that journeys will run as expected.”

A County Council spokesperson said: “The County Council subsidises the 33 bus service in Market Harborough and are sorry to hear about recent operational issues faced by passengers.

“We will work closely with Stagecoach to support them in addressing these issues and improving the service.”
