Written by on 14th October 2026

Two brothers from Market Harborough are celebrating boxing victories, with Jimmy McCann defending his national title and younger brother Jacob extending his unbeaten record.

Ten-year-old Jacob, a pupil at Foxton Primary School, won his second bout last week to maintain his unbeaten record. His coach described it as one of the best performances he had seen from a boxer of his age.

Jimmy, 14, won the Manchester Box Cup Challenge Belt competition for a second time, representing Unity Boxing Club in Leicester, where the brothers train.

His coach said Jimmy started strongly against a good opponent before raising his performance in the second round and taking control in the third, landing a series of combinations.

Jimmy secured a unanimous decision victory against the home fighter, ensuring the belt returned to Leicester.

The win adds to an impressive run for Jimmy, who has been building a strong record in the sport and previously enjoyed success in competitions outside the area.

Boxing is becoming a family affair, with Jimmy’s younger brothers also making their mark in the ring. Billy is competing in national competitions, as the brothers continue to train and develop their skills and experience in the sport.
