‘Overwhelming’ Response To Schools’ Laptop Appeal

An appeal for laptops to help schoolchildren in and around Market Harborough has been given a big boost thanks to a donation of nearly £30,000
It has enabled the Learn Academies Trust, responsible for 11 primary schools, to buy 158 brand new devices for youngsters who didn’t have access to a computer for home learning.
The grant from the Leicester-based Sir Thomas White Loan Charity comes on top of more than 90 second-hand laptops donated by individuals, groups and businesses, including members of the Market Harborough 41 Club, including Emkat Solutions and Duncan Murray Wines.
Every child who needed a device now has one.
Trust Leader Stef Edwards spoke to Hfm:
David Howard, Chair of Trustees at Charity, said “We’re delighted to provide a grant to Learn-AT, which we’re confident will have a hugely positive impact on a number of children during these challenging times.
“Like many, all at the charity commend the way in which teachers and children have adapted to teaching or learning remotely.
“With funds available, we felt it’s only right to do something to ensure that as many children as possible have access to the technology that enables them to continue their education remotely during lockdown.
The Learn Academies Trust has also thanked Hfm and the Harborough Mail for spreading the word about the campaign and helping them to reach so many people.
As soon as the laptops are no longer needed for remote learning, they will be shared between Learn-AT’s schools – Market Harborough CE Academy, Meadowdale Primary School, Ridgeway Primary Academy, Lubenham All Saints CE Primary School, Husbands Bosworth CE Primary School,, Great Bowden CE Academy, Church Langton CE Primary School, Red Hill Field Primary School, St Andrew’s CE Primary School, North Kilworth, South Kilworth CE Primary School & Blaby Stokes CE Primary School.
