Computer Problem Prevents Decision On Controversial Plan

A computer problem prevented councillors making a decision on the controversial redevelopment of an elderly people’s housing scheme in Market Harborough.
Planning officers were unable to show slides, detailing the proposal for Naseby Square, at the District Council’s virtual planning committee, held on-line last night.
IT staff spend 25 minutes trying to resolve the issue before a decision was made to abandon the meeting, which could have given the go-ahead for 38 new affordable homes on the site.
The application, that would see the demolition of 16 bungalows, will now be considered next week.
Petitions against the plan have been signed by over 800 people,
Chairman of the Planning Committee Barry Champion announced the meeting could not continue
