Cost For Policing Across Harborough Set To Rise

Written by on 25th January 2021

Residents across Harborough are set to pay more for Policing this year.

Leicestershire’s Police and Crime Commissioner has outlined plans to increase the amount he charges in Council Tax by £15 a year for a Band D house – a rise of just under 6.5%.

Lord Willy Bach says that will help pay for 50 new officers, in addition to a further 88 new recruits to be funded by the second year of the Government’s 20,000 new officers programme.

The budget will go before councillors next week.

Harborough District Council is proposing increasing its share of the bill by £5 a year for a Band D house.
