Businessman Honoured For Helping Others During Pandemic

A Desborough businessman has been recognised for his work in helping the community during the pandemic.

Kris Malde, owner of The Ritz, has been handed a ‘Rose of Northamptonshire’ award.

The scheme, launched by the High Sheriff of Northamptonshire Paul Parsons, is honouring unsung heroes who have gone over and above to help others during the past few months.

The The R Inn restaurant at the Ritz in Station Road providing free hot meals to frontline key workers every Friday for three months as well as providing support to locals in other ways.

Those to benefit included KGH nurses and staff, workers at every Desborough care home, the town’s firefighters, and teachers and staff at seven local schools.

Despite being forced to close his businesses for long periods, Kris has also been providing and delivering food and meals.
