‘Cold Call’ Interrupts MP’s Question To Prime Minister

Harborough’s MP was interrupted when asking a question during Prime Minister’s Question Time … by his phone.

Neil O’Brien, who was taking part by video link to the House of Commons earlier, was posing an important question to Boris Johnson about coronavirus.

He later confirmed the call, on a landline that hardly ever rings, was a cold-call from an insurance company, asking whether he’d recently been involved in an accident.

Despite the distraction, Mr O’Brien persisted in asking the question and received assurance from the Prime Minister that vaccines will be able to be modified quickly to deal with variant strains of coronavirus,
