Harborough’s Weekly Covid-19 Rate Drops To Lowest In Leicestershire

Harborough’s weekly coronavirus infection rate has dropped to the lowest level in Leicestershire.

Latest data from Public Health England show the district’s rate in the seven days to December 3rd was 113 per 100,000 people, with 106 new cases.

That is down from 151 for the previous seven days, when 142 people tested positive for the virus.

Covid-19 infections in the district remain below the national average for the second week running, with Harborough now ranked 185th in a list of 315 local authority areas – the higher the position, the higher the infection rate.

The rate for Leicestershire as a whole during the week to December 3rd was 148.6 per 100,000 people – the national average is 149.2.

Mike Sandys, Director of Public Health for Leicestershire, says people need to stick to the restrictions currently in place, to drive down the figures:

The government is set to review the Tier Three restriction a week today, looking at various factors, including infection rates and hospital admissions.
