Concern Over Increasing Covid-19 Rate Across Harborough

There are concerns the Harborough District – and the rest of Leicestershire – will continue to face restrictions after the lockdown is lifted, if Coronavirus rates do not drop.
Every council area in the county is now in the top 100 parts of the country with the highest infection rates.
Harborough is placed 82nd in the list of 315 local authority areas – although that is the lowest of all area in Leicestershire – the rate here is now above the national average, with 320.9 cases per 100,000 – the national average is 271.2.
Public health bosses say it needs to drop to around 150 in the next two weeks for the area leave lockdown in Tier One, or face enhanced restrictions from then on.
They are urging people to stick to the current measures and to book a test if you have any Covid-19 symptoms.
Director of Public Health for Leicestershire, Mike Sandys, told Hfm the rising rates are a concern:
Latest figures from Public Health England show the infection rate in the Harborough District has risen from 208.9 to 320.9 over the past two weeks, with 301 people testing positive for Coronavirus in the seven days to November 12th.
Rates in the Kettering borough, which some parts of the Hfm Region fall into, currently stand at 232.9 per 100,000 and in Daventry district the figure is 265.3 per 100,000 people.
