Flags Raised To Mark Merchant Navy Day

Flags has been raised in the Memorial Gardens and on top of the Symington Building in Market Harborough to mark Merchant Navy Day.

The annual event honours those who kept the UK afloat during World War Two, as well as current seafarers who help import food, fuel and other goods.

The Red Ensign flag, or Red Duster is it is affectionately known, has been the recognised flag of the British Merchant Navy since 1854.
