Pub To Re-Open After Being Shut For Over 3 Years

The Red Lion pub in Great Bowden is to reopen, three years after it shut prompting a major campaign by villagers.

A refurbishment costing over £200,000 is on-going, and initially a revamped garden area will open later this month.
Residents mounted the ‘Save the Red Lion’ campaign when the historic pub shut in January 2017, fearing the pub could be changed into a house.
Miles Uppal, the General Manager, spoke to Hfm:

The pub is still under the same ownership and ten jobs are being created with the reopening.
Head Chef Jonti Brogan told Hfm he’s looking forward to welcoming customers old and new:
Villager Lisa Hilton, who launched the ‘Save The Red Lion’ campaign told Hfm: “I’m absolutely delighted and the whole village will be.
“The Red Lion is a much-loved pub and I’m sure it will once again prove popular to residents in Great Bowden.”
