Controlled Drinking Zones to continue

Written by on 3rd September 2019

Controlled drinking zones are to continue in both Market Harborough and
Lutterworth.

Harborough District Council’s Cabinet last night (2nd September) agreed
a three year extension to the zones – following a public consultation in
which 93% of those responding were in favour of the move.

The legislation means people drinking in an anti-social manner can be
arrested if they fail to surrender alcohol to Police.

However, it’s emphasized that it’s not illegal to carry or to drink
alcohol in these public spaces – so long as drinking is done
responsibly.
