4×4 Volunteers Called In After Lorry Blocks A47

Volunteers in 4×4 vehicles came to the rescue after a lorry got stuck in snow on the A47 in the north of the Harborough District last night.
The HGV got stranded between Tugby and Skeffington just after 7pm, which completely blocked the carriageway and led to a queue of traffic about two miles long.
Members of the Leicestershire and Rutland 4×4 Response team were called in by Police and pulled the lorry free just before 9pm, after linking some of their vehicles together.
Police have thanked the volunteers for their assistance.

One person was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a ditch near Broughton Astley last night.
Emergency services were called to Broughton Road, Leire, just after 9pm.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue service removed a door off the car to get the casualty out, and say two other people in the vehicle were able to get out before crews arrived.
Police say the person was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be serious.
Fire crews from Lutterworth, Hinckley and a specialist Technical Rescue team from Leicester’s Southern fire station attended the incident.
No other vehicles were involved.
