Wait Goes On For Pavement Reinstatement

A utility company has reiterated its pledge to put new pavement slabs down in Market Harborough after replacing them with tarmac last year.
It is over seven months since the area on Church Square in the town centre was branded ‘unsightly’ following emergency repairs by National Grid.
At the time the electricity infrastructure firm said the surface repair was temporary and the slabs would be reinstated within a couple of months.

A spokesperson for National Grid told HFM: “The paving slabs were ordered in October, but as specialist material, had a long lead time for delivery.
“We anticipate receiving them in August and will look to reinstate the pavement to its original condition as soon as possible upon receipt.”
The area is close to the town centre’s ‘cultural quarter’ and Sarah Hill, county councillor for Harborough East, has been pushing for action:
