Villagers Lose Fight Against New Homes

A three-year battle by residents in Great Glen to stop 170 new houses being built is over, after the government ruled the development can go-ahead.
Developers Miller Homes lodged an appeal after Harborough Council refused final permission for the homes on land off Oaks Road last year.
After considering it, a Planning Inspector has overturned that decision and granted planning permission.

Hundreds of villagers are against the homes, with opposition centreing on landscaping and fears the historic ridge in the area will be lost.
They are also worried about road safety concerns and village amenities not being able to cope with the influx of new residents.
