Tributes are being paid to Al James, one of the founder members of Showaddywaddy, who has died following a fall at his home in Market Harborough, aged 73.
The musician – whose real name was Geoff Betts – passed away this afternoon, after spending three weeks in hospital.

Former Showaddywaddy singer and close friend Dave Bartram is one of those paying tribute.
Speaking to the Leicester Mercury, he said: “We were still extremely close.
“I’m absolutely gutted and totally heart broken. I’m feeling a little woeful, it’s very sad. I have informed most of the other band members, who are all extremely upset.”
He described Al, who played bass, as the ‘Mr Rock N Roll’ of the group, which rose to fame in the 70s, adding: “He was a talented musician and song writer, a great character and a great asset to the band right until he left.”
Geoff, who was born in Billesdon, was in the band from 1973 until 2008.
He leaves three children, two daughters and one son.
