Tradesman ‘Devastated’ After Van Theft

There is an appeal for sightings of a tradesman’s silver Ford Transit van that was stolen off from outside a house in Great Bowden this morning.

It was taken from the driveway of a house in Station Road at 11.15pm and sped off in the direction of Market Harborough, narrowly missing other motorists.

Owner, Mark Haxby, a bathroom fitter from Grantham, thinks he may have dropped the keys while taking items into the house and returning a few minutes later to see the van being driven away.

He told Hfm he attempted to open the driver’s door as it was reversed by the thief but then thought about his own safety.

Mr Haxby says he has lost his livelihood, as the van contained his tools worth about £4,000 as well as items for the bathroom installation he was working on.

Police are appealing for sightings of the van, which has the registration number EA60 TDV.
