Students To Hold Climate Change Protest

Young people will hold a protest in Market Harborough today to demand action on climate change.

They are calling on Harborough Council to follow other authorities across the country in declaring a ‘Climate Change Emergency.’

Organisers of today’s action

The protest, which will be held outside the Council’s Symington Building this afternoon, has been organised by a group of students from the Welland Park Academy.

Similar action is being taken across the UK and other parts of the world today, following protests last month sparked by the Youth Strike 4 Climate movement.

In the UK, they are calling on Councils to pledge to do more to tackle climate change locally, and push the government for extra funding to tackle the issue.
