Stay Of Execution For Under-Threat Buses
Written by HFM News on 12th March 2019
Two under-threat bus services will continue to run until at least until the summer.
Leicestershire County Council has granted a short extension to its current contract with Centre Bus, who run the number 33 town service in Market Harborough and the 44, that links the town with Foxton and Fleckney, which was due to end in June.
Both routes are subsidised by the authority, which has approved plans to cut £400,000 from its passenger transport budget.
They were both placed ‘at risk’ of being scrapped last year.
The Council says it will now be talking with people who use the buses during July, before a final decision on their future is announced.
Bosses are stressing there would not be a situation where people were left with no alternative transport options, should the services cease.
