Residents Demand Action Over Mass Fly-Tipping

Written by on 28th March 2025

Residents are demanding action to remove a mass of rubbish fly-tipped near their homes in Market Harborough.

Household and trade waste has been strewn across land adjacent to the Wellington Place estate over the past few weeks.

There is also a burnt-out moped and motorbike amongst the mess.

People living in new homes close-by say the fly-tipping is blighting the area and posing a safety risk.

These residents spoke to HFM:

The land is owned by William Davis Homes and a spokesman told HFM: “We are working with Taylor Wimpey, our partner in delivering Wellington Place, Harborough District Council, and other local agencies to resolve this issue with flytipping at the development.

“As always, our priority is to minimise the impact on residents, and so we are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”

A spokesperson for Harborough District Council said: “The council has been working with the landowner to ensure that the fly-tip on land adjacent to Wellington Place is cleared as quickly and easily as possible.

“There is a large amount of waste to clear and we will continue to monitor the situation.”
