Over 1,200 People Lose Jobs Since Start Of Pandemic

Over 1,200 people living in the Harborough District have lost their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic.
Latest figures show 2,000 residents are unemployed and claiming benefits – three times the figure before the first lockdown in March.
The number includes just under 600 people aged 18 to 24 and over 1,000 aged 25-49.
The figures from the Office of National Statistics show 3.6% of the working age population locally are unemployed.
Over 1,300 more people are out of work compared with this time last year.
