New Accommodation Set To Be Created For People Made Homeless

New accommodation for people made homeless is set to be created in Market Harborough town centre.
Harborough District Council has bought a property at the bottom on Roman Way, which, subject to planning permission, will be demolished to make-way for the new building.
It would contain eight en-suite rooms and a shared kitchen, to serve as a place for people to stay temporarily until they are able to find permanent accommodation.
There has been a significant increase in people declaring themselves homeless across Harborough, a situation mirrored nationwide – in the past year 108 households have needed temporary accommodation in the District.
The Council says the new facility would mean less reliance on expensive private temporary accommodation, significantly reduce its costs.
Cllr Simon Whelband, Harborough District Council’s Cabinet lead for Wellbeing, Communities and Housing, told Hfm more about the plan:
The Council have bought an old house on Roman Way which would be demolished to make way for the new facility.
