Lloyds Bank To Close For Final Time

Market Harborough loses another bank today as Lloyds closes its doors for the final time.

The branch is the fourth to shut in the town centre in two years, as more people bank on-line instead of visiting in-person.

These customers told HFM they are not happy to be losing their bank:

Lloyds says 81% of its personal customers already use other ways of banking and a spokesperson told HFM: “As many customers now choose to bank through their app or online, visits to our Market Harborough branch have fallen over recent years.

“Customers can use the local Post Office for everyday banking which is a short walk away, and access cash at the nearby free-to-use ATMs.

“Customers can also manage their money on our app, online, by calling us, or at the Banking Hub.”

Market Harborough’s last remaining traditional bank Santander will close down in July, leaving only Nationwide and Market Harborough Building Society open, as well as a Banking Hub, which recently opened in the Symington Building.

Town-based fashion retailer Joules will move into the Lloyds bank building later this year, relocating from its current shop on the High Street.
