King Charles III Proclaimed At Ceremony In Market Harborough

Around 200 people turned out to a special proclamation ceremony in Market Harborough’s Memorial Gardens to formally announce the beginning of King Charles III’s reign.
The ancient tradition, performed in towns and cities across the country yesterday, ended with three cheers for the King and the singing of the national anthem, followed by a round of applause.
Over 200 people gathered in the Memorial Gardens to hear the proclamation read out on Sunday afternoon in Market Harborough.

The ceremony was organised by Harborough District Council and Cllr Rani Mahal, Vice Chairman, read the proclamation and spoke to HFM afterwards:
God save the King was sang during the proclamation.

Richard Everard, Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, helped lead the ceremony and spoke to HFM.

Over forty bunches of flowers have been laid in the Memorial Gardens to pay tribute to The Queen and over the weekend dozens of people signed books of condolence in and around Market Harborough.
