Harborough’s Conservative MP Neil O’Brien has been appointed a Junior Minister in the new government.
Prime Minister Liz Truss has given him the role of Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care.
Tweeting about the appointment Mr O’Brien said: “It’s an honour to be appointed to work for those in need – and those working so hard to love and care for them.
“The first thing I will be doing is listening to the people who know all this first-hand.”
Mr O’Brien was previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities in Boris Johnson’s administration, before resigning in July.
