Over 800 fines have been issued to people breaching coronavirus restrictions across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
Of the 515 handed out in Leicestershire, 8 people have been handed the maximum £10,000 penalty, including one to the owner of the Gate Hangs Well pub in Syston, for allowing an event with 300 people and others to those who held house parties, where over 30 people were found at addresses, although none in the Harborough District.
374 fines have been issued since March in Northamptonshire.
Superintendent Adam Slonecki from Leicestershire Police said: “While it must be recognised that the vast majority of people are adhering to the latest government guidelines we are still receiving reports of potential breaches of the regulations.
“Our approach remains the same and we continue to engage with the public, explain the need to follow the regulations and encourage people to do so however, we will take enforcement action where and when it is required.
“We are living through unprecedented times and as a community across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland we must continue working together in order to tackle the spread of Coronavirus.
