Horse Rescued After Falling Into Swimming Pool

Firefighters have rescued a horse that fell into a swimming pool after escaping from a field.

Crews were called to the back of house in Desborough Road, Rushton just after midnight, when the family who live at the house were woken up by a commotion outside.

The horse was sedated before specialist equipment was used to get it out of the water.

Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service say the horse was not injured and was then returned to the field where it is kept.

Chris Tucker, who lives at the house with his partner Karen and daughter Kayleigh – who went round the village knocking on doors in a bid to find the owner of the horse – is praising firefighters for the rescue and thanking his neighbours Cliff and Beth for their assistance.

Crews from Rothwell and a specialist animal rescue crew from Wellingborough carried out the rescue.
