Bespoke Boots Help Injured Bird Recover at Wildlife Hospital

A tiny pair of bespoke boots is helping a bird recover after it was hit by a car.
The whitethroat was taken to the Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital in Kibworth after being found stunned in the road following the collision.
The team made tiny sandal-style boots for the bird
The people who found the bird noticed its feet had curled up and it was unable to grip.
After some warmth, the bird perked up, but staff at the wildlife hospital were concerned the curled toes could be the result of nerve or ligament damage.
The team made tiny sandal-style boots from cardboard, cotton wool and special tape to keep the toes in the correct position while they heal.
A spokesperson for the hospital said the bird’s progress will be closely monitored.
They added that the makeshift shoes are designed to help the toes sit correctly and give the whitethroat the best chance of recovering.
