Harborough’s Local Election Count Underway

Votes are being counted following local elections across Harborough yesterday.

The turnout for the District Council election was 34.9%, slightly down on when people last went to the polls in 2019, when it was 36.4%.
125 candidates are contesting seats in 19 wards across the district, with 34 councillor positions up for grabs.
Before the election, the Conservative Party held a majority on the council, having won 22 of the 34 seats at the last election and a party needs to win 18 seats for a majority.
